Immersive Virtual Adventures

Since winter 2004, CYBERLINE Research and the GERMAN FILM SCHOOL have been working together to find out how to produce immersive virtual adventures. These Next Generation computer games will be developed for a personal high-end simulator named “Merkaba”. Research Director Prof. Dr. Bernd Willim will familiarize you with the targets of this big R&D project and screen the first student short films.


Prof. Dr. Bernd Willim (born 1956) is President and co-founder of the first private film university in Germany, the 1998 founded, 2003 state recognized „GERMAN FILM SCHOOL for digital production“. He also planed, invented and realizes the highly innovative, future-driven research project „Merkaba“. Professor Willim has got 30 years of fundamental knowledge and practical experience acquired in the production of various media such as film, computergraphics and computer animation, virtual reality, specialized journals, books and Television. Over more than 15 years he was involved in interdisciplinary research work and appropriation of fundamental general knowledge in Europe and North America. Prof. Willim also performed pioneer and developmental work in Germany in the fields of computer graphics and digital media.

The GERMAN FILM SCHOOL for digital production is the first private film university in Germany. Founded in 1998, the lectures and studies began at the beginning of March 2000, and in autumn 2003, the GERMAN FILM SCHOOL was recognized by the state as the first private university in the Land of of Brandenburg. As of March 2006, more than 70 creative individuals graduated as DIPLOM DIGITAL ARTISTs, improving their learned capabilites internationally as demanded freelancer in well-known post production comanies and within their self-founded companies. The winning of more than 40 Awards and Nominations at short-film-festivals all over the world stands for the competitve quality of the of the „high performance“ studies. At the moment, around 90 students are studying under the 3-year-program of DIGITAL ARTIST. They have over 100 work spaces at their disposal and approximately 90 lecturers, who are leaders in the business.
