European Producers: Case study - Making of "Splinter"
Wojtek Wawszczyk, Director & Character Animator, Freelance Artist

The making of "Splinter" - a 12-minute animated short movie telling the story of a wooden bench that falls in love with a girl. The technique of the movie combines high-end maya 3d animation with traditional oil painting. Over 300 canvases have been produced for the purposes of this little story.



Wojtek graduated from the Polish National Film School in Lodz and also spent some time at Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. He directed the award-winning short movies "headless", "mouse",and "penguin". Furthermore, Wojtek was one of the animators for the Academy Award nominated "I,Robot", as well as "Aeon Flux" and the "Disney Homecoming" commercial. He is founder of the Warsaw Film School and is today teaching at its animation department.
