Animated Commercials: Dolphins, Chicks and a Chicken Race - Visual Effects for the fmx/trailer and other Commercials

"Racing Beats", Alexander Kiesl´s and Steffen Hacker´s graduation film, became one of the most watched internet movies of 2005 and won numerous awards: The Young Director Award in Cannes, the Animago, the First Steps Commercial Award, the Spotlight for Students, the VdW Award, the Art Director´s Club´s "Talent of the Year 2005" and others.
"Racing Beats" was shot in the Filmakademie´s green screen studio which got extended by an enormous 3D airport in post production. The Making Of shows, where both directors had to work in detail in 3D and compositing and where visual tricks had to be used to stay in time but not to loose apparent visual quality of the show. "Racing Beats" startet a series of commercial projects for the two directors. Some of them, like the WWF Canada campaign with digital animals, will be featured in this presentation as well.



Steffen Hacker studied at the Institute for Animation and Visual Effects at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Since 2005 he is Lead Compositor and Head of the VFX-Department at Unexpected Postproduction GmbH.

Alexander Kiesl studied at the Institute for Animation and Visual Effects at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. He co-founded Unexpected Postproduction GmbH in Stuttgart in 1999, since 2005 he has been CEO, Lead Animator and Head of the VFX-Department at Unexpected.
