Grand Opening
As part of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film award ceremony on Tuesday evening, 02 May, State Minister, Willi Staechele, will officially open fmx/06. The opening keynote "The next innovation in Computer Graphics is the Artist's Interface" will be held by Doug Cooper from Dreamworks Animation.

Films Action Event
The Films Action Event on Wednesday Laurent Rodon, Films Action and Pascal Rodon, Action Synthèse, talks about creating animated content for an international market and the animated feature "The Wizard of Oz", produced by Films Action, Play Productions, France 2 Cinema and developed by Gaumont. The Films Action Event is supported by HP.


Streamline Studios present fmx/06 in Amsterdam

fmx/06 and Streamline Studios present themselves to the DCC industry in Amsterdam . The reception will be held on April 11th 2006, at 16:00 p.m., at DE BALIE on the Leidseplein, Amsterdam. Speakers are: Prof. Thomas Haegele, head of programme for fmx/06 and Alexander Fernandez, CEO at Streamline Studios. Companies that have confirmed yet are: In Ah, Motek, Coded Illusions, Pixelberg, Netgamez, Whats, NHTV, Game Capital, Pedri Animation, Molenwiek , Korea Trade Center, Codeglue, House Of Secrets, Gameffect, Alice Well, Qantm or Woedend. Streamline Studios specializes in creative and technical support services for the broadcast, film and video games industries. As outsourcing specialists, their services cater to production teams that are understaffed, facing tight deadlines, or require specialized third party assistance.

At fmx/expo, Streamline Studios will have a booth where you can find out more about them and in fmx/conference Stefan Baier, Executive Producer at Streamline Studios, will talk about how they use Nvidia's technology for HoopWorld.


Visualisation in Science and Industry

For the second time, MFG Baden-Württemberg presents trends in developement and application of visualisation and simulation processes at this year's conference panel fmx/techonologies. Originally from the area of entertainment, visualisation technologies have become an essential factor for added value within numerous lines of businesses. Enormous potential emerges from the exchange between science, software manufacturing and users. Sessions show fields of application and provide input for a convergent use.  

The keynote address by Prof. Dr. Meinzer from the German Cancer Research Center showing the current trends in visualsation-technology in medicine is followed by a series of case studies presented by leading companies and science organizations. They explore visualisation as a key technology, which is relevant for a broad range of applications, ranging from engineering in the automotive sector, design to medical technology, architecture and archaeology. Recruiting Event

The Recruiting Event at fmx/talents brings graduates, Junior and Senior Artists in touch with representatives from national and international animation houses and VFX-service providers. fmx is the ideal platform to meet new CGI talent. At the same time it also offers the best possibility to recruit new team members from a large pool of talent, meet others and collect information.

At the Recruiting Panels on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, companies will give an insight into their current projects and present internal job vacancies. Over 30 companies will be present this year such as: A. Film, animoto, BFC Berliner Film Companie, CA Scanline, Centroid Animation, Double Negative Visual Effects, DreamWorks Animation SKG, Elektrofilm, FIFTYEIGHT 3D, Framestore CFC, Greenpost, Liga_01, Locomotion, Mackevision, Metricminds, Optix Digital Pictures, Phenomic, PICTORION das werk, Pixion+, Pixomondo, QuadrigaFX, Related Designs, RTT AG, tvt Postproduction, Unexpected, Walt Disney Feature Animation und Yager Development.

Interviews for a new job can take place at the Recruiting Desks in a friendly atmosphere. Here each applicant has the chance to show the companies their showreel and C.V. At the Recruiting Sessions communication professionals and top recruiters help talents with the basics, advice and tips for a successful career planning. There are special Rooms on Friday with a Disney Animation Portfolio Workshop and on Saturday with a Sony Pictures Imageworks Special Session.


European Talents

35 projects from Germany and Europe have been submitted for European Talents. The team of Ute Böhr, Tom Werner and Michael Schmetz has selected 10 projects which will be presented at fmx/06 on Thursday 4 th may 2006: 4 animated feature films and 6 TV-Series from Danish, Hungarian, Spanish and German talents. Next to talents from filmschools like the National Filmschool of Denmark, the Institute of Animation , Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction,Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg and the HFF “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam , several young companies from Berlin like “Styles and Stories”, “Tricklabor” and “Voodoopop” participate with their projects. International Animationschools

International training and work will be highlighted in school presentations in co-operation with the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film . At fmx/06 top animation schools from Asia, USA and Europe will be presented. For the first time, Eastern European Upcoming schools from Poland , Hungary and Serbia will be represented. In an Eastern Europe Special, the present development of the Eastern European market will be dealt with. Mileta Postic from Novi Sad University speaks about his pioneering project: the establishment of an animation institute at the university in former Yugoslavia.

The Beijing film Academy and the University of Tokyo from Asia will be present, as well as the most renowned animation school in Europe, the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design at the University of Arts, London. Let's not forget the top schools from USA, Germany and Northern Europe. The Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg presents a Retrospective on “15 Years of Animation”, a premiere of New Films and student projects within fmx/screenings and the “Artificial Actors” Project within fmx/technologies.
