Disney Animation Visual Delights
Kyle Odermat/Disney Animation, Karen deJong/Disney Animation

Join filmmakers from Disney Animation as they demonstrate the visual development process from initial concept art to the final rendered look. Featuring clips from the Disney vaults, the filmmakers will discuss the process and issues of translating 2D sketches and paintings to 3D looks and lighting resulting in a final look.

Kyle Odermatt began his career at Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1996 as a Model Development Technical Supervisor. His responsibilities included overseeing Modeling, Rigging, Layout and EFX development for all current shows in production. Kyle then went on to become the Artistic Supervisor of Computer Graphics Imagery on "Treasure Planet". His talents then landed him the role as a CG Supervisor on "Chicken Little". Currently Odermatt is hard at work as a CG Supervisor on an upcoming Disney Animated film in development.

Karen deJong is currently the assistant art director for the Walt Disney Feature Animation feature, Meet the Robinsons. Some of her recent projects include serving as the senior matte painter on Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and in visual development on the Disney feature, Chicken Little as 3-D texture and background painter.
