Previz for The Day After Tomorrow
Joshua Kolden, CEO, Crack Creative, www.crackcreative.com
Joshua Kolden from Crack Creative will discuss the previsualization for "The Day After Tomorrow". Crack Creative produced more than 200 shots for the film and developed a new technology called "Previs 2.0" that combines game engine technology with visual effects techniques to create higher quality previsualization. Topics include the issues associated with modern previsualization and film preproduction, the latest visualization technology, and the advent of postvisualization, an entirely new application of visualization tools in post production.

Joshua Kolden is a 15 year veteran of visual effects, with credits that include Waterworld, The Fifth Element, Armageddon, Stuart Little and others. Throughout his career, Kolden has been a leader in the development of new visual effects technologies. Joshua Kolden was one of the first RenderMan specialists, and developed shaders and shading techniques that are the foundations of many shaders in use today. Kolden consulted Digital Domain on the use of Arete water simulation for Titanic and he was the first to use the Visible Human database in film The Fifth Element. In 2002 Kolden launched the company Crack Creative.
